The Little Fish That Could… (and Did)

A few months ago, something fishy happened — in the best possible way.

It all started when my friend Sarah spotted a very glamorous woman wearing a vintage articulated fish pendant. Naturally, she became slightly obsessed. And when someone you love has their heart set on something glittery and gold, you do what any jewellery-obsessed friend would do: you make it happen.

As a birthday treat, I had a small gold version made by our brilliant artisans in Italy — a little tribute to that original vintage charm.

She was thrilled.
Our friends swooned.
And then... word got out.

We made a few more. A limited run, and just like that, they started swimming off the shelves.

Turns out, we weren’t the only ones hooked. These little fish pendants have become something of a cult favourite — worn by Loel fans everywhere, layered up or worn solo, bringing a glint of joy to everyday dressing.

How They’re Made: Artisanship in Every Scale

Each fish is hand made in a small, family-run workshop in Italy, by a team that’s been making jewellery the proper way for decades. Every pendant is fully articulated — meaning it shimmies and sways just like a real fish (but far more glamorous).

They’re made from recycled sterling silver and 18k gold plate. Every scale, joint, and hinge is polished by hand — because the little things matter.

The result? Something tactile, expressive, and just a little bit magical. A piece that doesn’t just look good — it moves beautifully too.

From Ibiza to the Amalfi Coast, Our Little Fish Has Quite the Summer

It’s been spotted on stylists, writers, content creators, and women we’d very much like to be friends with — lounging in linen, sun-drenched on balconies, or dancing in beach bars.

The fish has made it into carry-ons and camera rolls all summer long — layered up with vintage chains, worn with nothing but SPF and a great shirt, and quietly racking up compliments across Europe.

We can’t say for sure, but we think it might be having a better social life than us.
